Yes, you read that right! The wildly inappropriate sci-fi comedy adventure cowritten by Matt J Pike and friend, the late, great Russell Emmerson, is headed to the big, erm, speaker, with Hart & Sol: The audiobook!

“It’s just so good, it’s everything I wished it could be,” said co-author Matt J Pike. “I am so proud of the project that has been put together. Micha’s narration killed it, the production guys nailed it and John’s new studio was amazing. What a great tribute to (co-author) Russell (Emmerson).”
Having teamed up with Six Foot Four Productions, the call out was made to find the perfect voice for the performance. Cue: Adelaide actress Micha Thomas’ vocal stylings – the perfect blend of narration and performance for the role. “I loved the creative freedom I was given to play with how each character might sound and react. Hart and Sol had so many characters, and accents – my humble thanks in advance to Americans, Britons and Scots especially for their tolerance,” said Micha.
Local audio engineers Matt Stasinowski and Michael Esterhuizen, and producer/director John DeCaux, rounded out the Hart & Sol team who, as an added bonus, found themselves test driving the new audio facilities at Pulsar Post. “It was such a beautiful, comfortable space and had everything that we needed – John’s done a great job putting it together,” said Matt Stasinowski.
And what better way to christen the dials with than an epic, action filled laugh-fest of galactic proportions. Six Foot Four Productions’ John deCaux, who helped design the new space, thought so. “It’s been a brilliant project to put our new post-production facilities through its paces.”
So, for the uninitiated, how does one describe Hart & Sol? Strap yourself in for a hilarious, and sometimes just plain wrong, adventure, as Captain Hart and her dysfunctional crew of the William Shakespeare battle the by-the-book bridge crew of the Milky Pleasure cruise ship they protect, avoid getting in too deep with the throng of rich pleasure-seeking passengers and deal with the alien species that just exterminated the rest of humanity around them. New life goals: get out of dodge – AKA the solar system – while they still can, with their lives and what remains of their dignity.
The sharp dialogue and epic action of this side-bursting story has been lovingly brought to life by Micha’s rich narration and character performance. “Micha has blown us away with the way she’s been able to create each of the characters and bring their unique voices to life,” said John.
Co-author Matt J Pike got to jump in on one of the sessions and was equally as impressed. “Seeing her read each line and nail the character voices on-the-fly was super impressive. I absolutely love what’s she’s done with it.”
Amongst the action, John deCaux finally saw his new Pulsar Post facility at Star Avenue Studios in full flight. “Being able to launch Pulsar Post with this project has been a dream come true, it’s the perfect mix for my passion for film and audio but also for my love of Scifi”
For audio engineers Matt and Michael, it was a chance to sink their teeth into a meatier long form project to test their skills in a different way. “We’ve both learned a lot and have had a blast delving into the story and hearing Mich’s interpretation of the characters! We hope listeners love it just as much as we do!” said Michael.
The new studio facilities provided the perfect storytelling backdrop for the epic action. Co-author Matt sat in on a session. “It was super cool to be there – and for the books’ finale! The set-up was great, and Micha was killing it. I think I ruined a couple of takes laughing at how she delivered some of the funnier lines – so good.
