The last few weeks have thrown the stock standard writing challenge into disarray. If been in heavy editing mode on the second book in the Starship Dorsano series, War & Quel.
It’s been a really interesting part of the project. I’ve written a separate post on the editing/second draft experience, but suffice to say, for the word count, it is impossible to determine exactly how much was written.
I completely dismantled three chapters, rewriting them from the ground up and added several other significant sections, to ensure all storylines worked weight and pace wise within the greater piece.
I’ve just sent the manuscript to those who have volunteered to Beta read the book (thanks in advance guys). I definitely wanted to present them something that I’m proud of that continues the good work from the first book.
So, when it comes to quantifying that in terms of word-count, I’m simply going to credit myself with the target 730 words a day. I think it’s a fair reflection of what I have achieved over that time. Boring, but it is what it is.
I can’t wait to see what the Beta readers think of it!
And, while they’re diving into W&Q, I’ll be rolling up my sleeves and cracking into the second Apocalypse book – so exciting. I have already penned 2-3 thousand words and can’t wait to dedicate my writing time to see this story come to life.
What’s new:
Zombie RiZing 4: Life and Beath
As the gang head deeper into the Zombie RiZing, the salvation of the shopping centre awaits – food, supplies, weapons – everything they could need for their future survival. The only problem is, when we say salvation, we could actually mean another level of monster-plagued, bad-guy-laden, lair of despair.
Beath and her magic-wielding friends are about to cross paths with fellow survivor Karl Dreeks, and if they’ve learned one thing in the RiZing, it’s that you can trust the fellow survivors about as much as you can the monsters.
Oh, speaking of which, did we mention the new breed of monsters? We didn’t? That seems like an oversight, as these new bad boys can fly!
So, when we say salvation, it could just be code for things are about to get a whole lot worse!
