I totally forgot to mention my epic milestone last week, this one on the writing front, not the word count. I finished the draft for the sixth and final book in the first series of Zombie RiZing. I couldn’t be happier with where the story went over the six installments. So excited to see what Gricey does with the artwork for the three remaining books in the series.
As much as I have loved writing Zombie RiZing, and I have, it has had one drawback – it’s been a distraction from my work on War and Quel. I mean that in the nicest possible way, the words were flowing so well that it was way too easy to keep writing ZR to his my word count. But as the weeks passed, so did my focus on W&Q. Once ZR was finished I had no choice but to roll my sleeves up and get stuck back in to the W&Q manuscript. I had been preparing for this moment in the background – re-reading the MS, plotting out where I wanted the story to go, etc.
So it all came down to this week. And, yes! the words started flowing again when I needed them to.
I’ve chosen to leave the issues with the MS – there are 4-5 loose ends that need tidying up – until the first edit. It’s allowed me to put the blinkers on and charge to the finish line of the first draft. And I’m nearly there! Epic battle in progress 🙂 I know where it’s all going and I’m hoping this time next week the first draft is complete.
The week after I’m hoping to tidy up the typos, fill in all the gaps in the script and send out a few copies to beta readers.
